Digimon's cosmology structure is based on a real life philosphy, that of neoplatonic emanationism

with higher levels of existence transcending lower levels of existence the philosophy of Plato stressing especially that actual things are copies of transcendent ideas and that these ideas are the objects of true knowledge apprehended by reminiscence. The DW is the perfect world of forms and ideas. This idea can be understood as the principle of the existence of a hierarchy of worlds

https://imgur.com/a/bXMWqeH where there are superior and perfect worlds in contrast to inferior and imperfect worlds, all of which derive from a single unit that would be the absolute being.

The concept of a "World Hierarchy"

was introduced to Digimon through the anime "Digimon Adventure'' in the platonic ideas that were used as the origin of the Digimon within this story

Within the Digimon franchise the concept of Neoplatonic emanationism is used to establish the relation between the worlds.

The adopted concept of Platonism is that there is a higher reality, a true abstract existence that is responsible for all that is individual to exist. Neoplatonism also argued that the world which we experience is only a copy of an ideal reality which lies beyond the material world.

The central idea of Neoplatonism is that of a hierarchy of “emanations,” which are somewhat like mental shadows or metaphysical reflections. Each layer of emanations represents a further step away from the fundamental substance of reality.

At the highest level of reality exists "the One" from which emanates the Nous or the mind. It is the first principle after the One and contains all knowledge in a unified form. It is both the knower, the known, and the act of knowing, embodying a complete unity. The Platonic realm of the Forms is contained within the Nous and acts as the archetype of the sensible world ( the platonic realm of forms in this contex would be the Digital World.)

From the Nous emanates a lesser reality known as the Soul, which receives information from the Nous and actualizes it. This act of "actualization" is the same as the creation of the sensible world ( in this context the sensible world is the Human World), the realm of multiplicity, time, and space. This sensible realm is an imperfect copy of the Nous and the Platonic realm of the Forms.

The concept of emantionism is that there are in fact innumerable layers of reality, one more abstract than the other, but in the end with all arising from a single higher and absolute layer.According to Emanationism, Creation occurs by a process of emanation - "out-flowing". The entire cosmos, and even all the gods and godheads beyond the cosmos, have come about through emanation. Just as the ocean forms its surface into waves, so the absolute forms create successive manifestations, successive entities. And these in turn create - or rather, emanate - further entities, and so on, with all these entities combining and interacting in the extraordinary network of existence.Emanationism is an idea in the cosmology or cosmogony of certain religious or philosophical systems. Emanation, from the Latin emanare meaning "to flow from" or "to pour forth or out of", is the model by which all things are derived from the first reality, or principle.

All things are derived from the first reality or perfect God by steps of degradation to lesser degrees of the first reality or God, and at every step the emanating beings are less pure, less perfect, less divine.

One could think of the relationship between each of these levels as being like "body and soul", "spirit and matter", or "creator and creature", in that each higher level is the soul, spirit, and creator of the level immediately below it; and the body, matter, and creature (created being) of the level immediately above it. The inhabitants of the higher worlds act like the souls of those in the lower worlds. https://imgur.com/a/60iJBPJ

Basically the structure of existence is divided into several layers with a physical and metaphysical difference between the layers.

In an emanationist cosmology our world is located in a layer, in a layer above ours, our souls are as physical as our bodies in our layer, but these souls happen to have a new metaphysical correspondent just as the physical body has the soul.

To each level of existence, there is a higher level with this physical/metaphysical difference. Digimon follows the same cosmology, the world is structured in a multi-layered hierarchy. https://imgur.com/3uR8fIs

In short, it's nothing akin to universes in parallel to one another, which a superficial knowledge of all this stuff would lead to, nor is it the difference in between the Real and the Virtual/Digital, posited by the V-Pets and by anything following the lore of the V-Pets, but the relationship between a higher plane of existence and the one that's emanated from it. It's vertical, not horizontal. The Digital World is a plane of existence in which the otherwise poorly defined "soul", or the essence, of humans can take physical form.

We humans exist in what is known as the "Physical World", above this layer there are numerous other layers (At least 6) that exist between the level of existence of the humans and Digimon. Digimon also runs on the stochastic process in quantum mechanics where each action can generate infinite different worlds where something has occurred or has not occurred or to put it in Kyoko's words, each time something happens in one world,a new reality branches off, containing the other possibility with a world for every possible possibility

https://imgur.com/a/Lg8g7KS of wich we know there are an endless number of https://imgur.com/a/sDGw3Co

The Digital Worlds are also said to have an existence that transcends and errodes reality( our human world) and to stand at a higher structural level than ours. The Japanese translation actually mentions "上位の構造である i.e " aka "It's a Superior Structure" to the point it encompasses the Human World and even if you'd use the human world itself(infinte universe/infinite multiverse) as a processing resource the data that makes up the DW cannot be processed https://imgur.com/a/OCg1Xl0

It has existed far before our world and our world was created as but a shadow,an imperfect emanation from Idea, the primordial Digital World,by Demiurge the soulless creator

https://imgur.com/a/UAtadZM This is just the Digital World alone. There are higher dimensions that transcend even it.Digimon were not created by humans, they only could

be observed once humans created the internet and digital tehnology and have existed since ancient times, having manifested as demons, yokai, spirits through magic or sorcery or subjugated as shikigami through the ancient art of onmyodo. This manifestation takes place digitally now and we see them as "digital monsters" but they are actually beings coming from another dimension

https://imgur.com/a/rBz57ij According to Mr. Kakudo he has this interpretation of Digimon: Digimon are called ''Digimon'' because they can be recognized by modern digital gadgets, but in the past they were recognized as yokai or shikigami, and the way they were seen changed with the times. Digimon are one of those things that have existed since ancient times and have been recognized by people as ethereal beings, but that have become tangible and visible through digital means, and that people define as "that kind of thing" so that they can understand them with their current knowledge.

They are also the other half of their human's soul and their "other self https://imgur.com/a/60iJBPJ

LEVELS OF THE COSMOLOGY

PHYSICAL WORLD

The Physical World (Also called the Physical/Material Universe) is the Platonic term for referring to the world of space, time and matter in which we humans exist. The term most commonly used to refer to this layer is “Human World” or more ambiguously Real World. This is the world that was created by Demiurge, it is a world of time and space that was created as having its base in the higher worlds. The Physical World is composed of the universes where we humans exist, these exist through the dimensions of time and space. The worlds exist infinitely and in parallel, following the infinite possibilities described by quantum mechanics, where each action can generate infinite different worlds where something has occurred or has not occurred. The story of a world, its timeline, is defined by the Wheel of Destiny, so that the life that someone lives is the result of a certain set of actions that through the Wheel of Fate is put it in one world instead or another. The Human World was created by Demiurgos. But since he used the primordial Digital World that is just like the World of Forms and concepts in neoplatonism perfect and he had to work with pre-existing chaotic matter as basis the Human World came out imperfect and is but a shadow of the Digital World https://imgur.com/a/5HHqDxP

There's some evidence of places between life and death, such as places between the Human World and the Afterlife, specifically for humans

DIMENSIONAL WALL/NETWORK (METAVERSE)

The "Dimensional Wall" is the name given to the barrier that exists between the Digital World and the Real World. The wall exists to keep the worlds apart, in case the barrier falls the worlds begin to merge, which could lead to the total destruction of all worlds In some products of the franchise, the Dimensional Wall is also referred to as the Network on which humans work, ie it would be the computer network itself. In these conditions one of the functions of the network would be the means by which information flows from the Real World to the Digital World and vice versa. Just after the level of the Real World is this "Dimensional Wall" that is divided into six layers

It is a hierarchical structure, with layers separating the digital world from the real world. After crossing these 6 layers it is possible to reach the lowest layer of the Digital World, referred to as "Physical Layer". The Network is the main means of transport within the franchise, making it practically impossible to travel between the Real World or the Digital World in case the Network is disconnected. The Network is a region closer to Humans than the Digital World, and humans using their technologies have already been able to use much of the potential of Network creating several services such as the EDEN Network that has numerous servers

The Network is a refference and works the same way as the real life OSI Model.

The Network is in-between the connection between worlds and beyond the Human World. It's only the shallow part of the Digital World.

Cyberspace EDEN (Metaverse) is a world that contains numerous servers, each server being its own world. The servers can have layers/levels (possibly sub-worlds) and a single server can have an infinite amount of information. https://imgur.com/a/xmccnDJ. All of those servers above are worlds of EDEN.

Servers like the Abyss Server have 30 floors/dimensions and are comprised of an infinite amount of data.Similar to how servers are the worlds of the Digital World.

The Abyss Server alone has 30 levels/floors, each arguably its own dimension and contains an infinite amount of information (in Digimon, this could make it an equivalent to an infinite universe). It was stated that all of EDEN is "small" compared to the Digital World. The "servers" of the Digital World should be superior to the "servers" of EDEN as well.

Just the Abyss Server would have given Grandracmon the power to conquer both worlds

https://imgur.com/a/TJCwpo2. Each floor being an area of servers from EDEN, and even areas of the Human World. Grand Dracumon was basically manipulating a special digital shift, bending space-time. https://imgur.com/a/70p83qG

These floors are various areas of different servers of EDEN, and even the Real World. He was a manipulating a special digital shift and creating an amalgamation of various points of space-time within the Abyss Server (or something along that - hard to explain). He was basically fucking up space-time. https://imgur.com/a/RFDvJhO

All of EDEN = small world. It's a small world compared to the Digital World. Even the servers should be smaller than the servers of the Digital World https://imgur.com/a/VGoleys

Erika's memory server contains planets, stars and galaxies https://imgur.com/a/gSS14H5

When Keisuke goes to the Memory Server, it shows him being pulled in, then it shows where he was pulled into.

It's been a while, but those are different memories if I remember correctly.

It then shows many of those spheres (along with the one that Keisuke was seemly pulled within).

This is what it looks like inside of one of those spheres.

And they're other areas within the spheres as well.

Both Zeromaru X and I talked about this and agreed that each sphere is like its own world, with other worlds (or levels/layers) residing within them.

Now, there's something else about this though....and that's the things that resemble galaxies in the background

Clearly, they're created from those spheres, which is like its own world with layers/levels within them. So what I was wondering if we can consider these as separate multiverses? Albeit, small ones, similar to the ones from Dragonball Super (they somewhat remind me of the multiverses in Super).

And take note that this is a single server within the Cyberspace EDEN (Metaverse), which is basically a huge space that contains many other spaces (servers), each having levels/layers within them. This includes Erika's server and I already explained how huge that server alone is...

And according to Grand Dracumon, a single server (though, it could potentially include the data of other places as well), can contain an infinite amount of information. (could be equivalent to a infinite universe at least)

Another example would be from Appmon.

See all of those bubbles? All of those are servers within the Surface Web, which is the first layer (or one of the first) of the Net Ocean. Although in Appmon, they're not actual worlds (spaces/dimensions/universes), but this would still be a good example. They're included among the Net Ocean, and to destroy the Net Ocean would mean to destroy all the servers (just as destroying the entire Digital World would destroy all of the servers).

This is actually pretty similar IMO. Since in the DW, the worlds exist within the "layers". And in Appmon, the "servers" were in a layer, and they're other layers as well. However, the difference is that the servers in Appmon aren't actual worlds, but it's still similar.

This is all just in the Network.

Susanoomon is said to be able to destroy and recreate the whole Network.

And just to clarify, the EDEN servers are "small" compared to the actual Digital World.

Digital World Outline

First come the AR Field, Surface,Deep and Dark Web that make up the Net Ocean. Than the Surface Digital World(I think this may reffer to the physical layer of the Digital World).

The Real World is connected to the AR Field thanks to the Internet wich is itself connected with the Net Ocean

The AR Field is above the Net Ocean

The AR Field is in-between the space between reality and the Net. Past it is the Net Ocean

The AR Field is a space situated between the Real World and the Net.

This is the space positioned between the Net and Reality.

The Surface Web is the shallows and makes up only 1% of the Net and comprises dozens of servers the size of islands

The world that liess deeper within the Surface Web is the Deep Web.

Being deep means being almost bottomless

It makes up 99% of the Net.

Then comes the Dark Web. The Dark Web is bigger than the AR Field,Surface, and Deep Web put together and is a network that's next to the Dark Area

After it comes the Wall Slum. This is a place where information from the real world is constantly flowing in, and not a day goes by that everything is the same as it was. It is a city of security walls protecting the Digital World, and a hive of junk data clinging to the outer walls of those walls. The Digital World is protected by a security wall. It's a city stuck on an eggshell. On earth, the interior would be underground... but this is the Digital World.

The areas are divided and protected from each other.

The "security wall," or the ground is the data processing, logical, and

conceptual boundary between the real world and the Digital World. If you try to go from the human/real world to the Digital World via the Network, you will be blocked by the security wall.

After the Wall Slum comes the Deep Digital World

Interestingly, it's mentioned in Seekers that it's possible that humans didn't create the Network and that it has always existed.

Network counts as part of the Digital World.More specifically, part of the Net Ocean. They interchange between sea of networks and internet a lot, like Seekers, so it should have same properties as layers of the Digital World

They have 6 layers in the dimensional wall as said in Tamers.

So counting all it'd be 5D, 6D, 7D, 8D, 9D, 10D.

Seekers map pretty much also shown that Net Ocean includes network https://imgur.com/a/uWHC0Fs and maybe humans didn't created internet but only gained means to access it. https://imgur.com/a/1g9vTCR

And Wisemon also said in XW that it's only recently humans managed to access a part of their world. https://imgur.com/a/l6fED6h

The "security wall" is the data processing logical and conceptual boundary between the Real World and Digital World. If you try to go from the Real World to the Digital World via Network, you will be blocked by the "security wall".

More stuff from Seekers. With the WWW, servers of the Network, and the Digital World that lies beyond it.

DARK AREA

The Dark Area exists in a spatial distortion

The Dark Area is said to be the world of nothingness.

The Dark Area corrodes space itself (even a small amount of it does this). It is timeless. They're layers/levels within it.Lucemon FM can use the Dark Area to absorb entire worlds and it is an extension of his body.

Basically Lucemon embodies a void of nothingness without conventional space or time. The Dark Area is infinite

and multi-layered. Time doesn't exist within it nor does conventional space. It's capable of swallowing the entire Digital World and Human World. It's beyond the network and Human World, just like the Digital World. It's basically the Digital World's Hell. The Dark Web is near the Dark Area (makes sense). The Deep Web was said to be near bottomless and the Dark Web is far larger.

https://imgur.com/a/uMkf3E1 The Dark Area exists in a spatial distortion on another layer(dimension) than the Digital World. https://imgur.com/a/E5sqbkR

.Grand Dracumon is the one who created it. https://imgur.com/a/BqbAGmo

The Dark Area is beyond the Human World and Network (it's close to the Dark Web). It's in a hierarchical position comparable to the Digital World (imagine a coin, with one side being the Digital World and the other side being the Dark Area). Time doesn't exist within it nor does conventional space. Each Digital World (Yggdrasill's DW, Homero's DW, etc) has its own Dark Area.

It's multi-layered and the deepest known layer, Cocytus, is shared by each Dark Area and Digital World (there's only one Cocytus). https://imgur.com/a/aGNwX2B

The Dark Area is pretty much the Digital World's Hell. The deepest area of the Dark Area and the Kernel are the exact opposites.Apocalymon's darkness is likely related to the Dark Area. Apocalymon's darkness has been stated to be infinite numerous times and can turn the Digital World into "Nothingness" ("Nothingness" is capitalized to show its importance). It is said that those engulfed by this darkness lose their sense of orientation in every direction as well. It's also called a world of nothingness. The Dark Area is referred to as the "Graveyard of Deleted Data", the world to where the Digimon that have been erased go. Digimon who use the power of darkness usually have the ability to erase, affect data, souls, and so on. Darkness in Digimon is an umbrella term for anything that isn’t represented by “Light”, this includes the concepts of “Death”, “Nothingness”, “Non-Evolution” and any of the “Negative Feelings”, including the “Seven Deadly Sins” that makes someone closer to “Evil” (Another thing that is also included in Darkness). You can think of Darkness as the void of nothingness that predates existence and is everything that will be once all of creation has been destroyed.

The Kernel and Dark Area are complete opossites and maybe once they were esentially of the same nature.

DRB

A mysterious Digimon that appeared when negative thoughts gathered through dark power. None know its true identity, and whether this thing is a Digimon cannot be analyzed. Although the reason for its appearance is unconfirmed, it is thought that it seeks to purge the chaotic Digital World and return it to "Nothingness". According to one theory, there is a prophecy of Apoclymon's coming in a book of ancient prophecies. Its Special Move is generating an endlessly spreading darkness, which returns everything to "Nothingness" (Darkness Zone). It is said that those engulfed by this darkness lose their sense of orientation in every direction, and are annihilated.

Hacker's Memory

Its special move is Darkness Zone, which calls forth an infinite darkness. Anyone or anything caught in its wake is said to be consumed by the void and eventually reduced to nothing.

Crusader/Heroes

He drags the Digital World to the dark world spreading infinitely.

A Dark Digimon born from negative human feelings, its appearance was foretold in ancient prophecies. It seeks to pull the Digital World into the dark world that spreads out infinitely.

Jintrix

It aims to pull the Digital World into the infinite expanse of the world of darkness.

Adventure (anime)

Gennai: This darkness is probably endless.

Its special attack is Darkness Zone, which turns everything (the DW in this case) into nothingness!

Adventure (PSP)

Gennai: It seems that there is no end to this darkness.

Adventure Koushiki Daizukan

Within the Dark Space that seemed to spread forever.

D1 Tamers

It's a mysterious technique that makes infinite darkness spread out in all directions and eliminate everything. Any Digimon caught in it will have their existence extinguished!

DVD

Its special move that creates a darkness that spreads out infinitely and causes all things swallowed by it to disappear (Darkness Zone).

Re Digitize

In Re: Digitize, he is the destroyer of everything that will replace everything with his darkness (referring to Darkness Zone).

The Dark Web is near the Dark Area (makes sense). The Deep Web was said to be nearly endless and the Dark Web is far larger. https://imgur.com/a/v4hhxBX

No Clockmon usually means no time

Time stops, complete darkness and Dark Energy surrounds all of you now! It looks like everyone was somehow transported to the Dark Area. https://imgur.com/6RDxMsF

As for the Digimon transferred to the Dark Area, if their data is evil, it imprisons them within eternal darkness https://wikimon.net/Anubimon

Some stuff for the Dark Area from Decode, ReArise, Digimon site, etc.

-Humans will never be able to understand the Dark Area in full.

-It's impossible for humans to understand Digimon's view of life and death.

-Humans and Digimon have different concepts of life.

-The deepest areas of the Dark Area and Kernel are the exact opposites.

Stuff from New Century

Underworld

The Underworld is infinite in size with distortions in space forming levels/floors (the levels/floors are likely dimensions). This is similar to Infinity Mountain. Sometimes "floors/levels" are used for dimensions. For example, Infinity Mountain, Infinite Cauldron, Digital Dungeon, Abyss Server, etc. Currently, they're 120 floors, and it may increase in the future.

Kudamon mentioned "a crack in space-time", so this place is possibly between the Digital World and Human World. Or even beyond the Digital World.

We don't know if the dimensions within it are a part of the hierarchy or are just simply sub-dimensions of an infinite dimension. It's possible it's a part of the hierarchy, but the dimensions within it are not.

There's also another area within it called "Underworld Dungeon". I'm not entirely sure if these are more dimensions are just simply other areas. The area with the levels/floors is the "Underworld Abyss"

EDIT: The Grand Dracumon event in ReArise seems to suggest that the Underworld and Dark Area aren't the same thing.

Eternal Dimension (neither the HW or the DW)

In the Xros Wars anime, Darkness Bagramon sent everyone into an eternal dimension that's neither the Human World or the Digital World. Bagramon has super dimensional powers in a class of himself, and this power was increased with the Dark Stone.

Shadow Howl

There's an area called the "Shadow Howl", which is a mysterious endless space. It's full of a substance that turns Digimon black.

Higher Plane mentioned in Ragna Lordmon's profile

It's mentioned in Ragna Lordmon's profile that its main body formed from the fusion of the Digicores at a higher plane. It uses "高い次元" (Takai jigen) which comes from "高次元" (Kō jigen) and both mean "higher dimension".

It is said to have been born when an evil being lurking in the depths of the Dark Area awakened, and the Digicores of the two Legend-Arms resonated with each other. Its main body, formed from the fusion of the Digicores at a higher plane, was made in the image of "the knight that would wield them" as imagined by Durandamon and Bryweludramon.

Btw that "evil being" was likely Voltobautamon https://wikimon.net/Voltobautamon based on this.

Dimension in between the Digital World and Human World

Vitium was in a dimension that was between the Digital World and Human World. It's in a limbo between them.

Infinite Dimensional Topology

Mirei mentions unlimited dimensional topology, which is referring to infinite-dimensional stuff. Mirei is one of the most intelligent characters in Digimon and has some of the best knowledge when it comes to multidimensional space, etc.

I don't know much about this, so I'll just copy/paste some stuff about it.

An infinite-dimensional manifold is a topological manifold modeled on some infinite-dimensional homogeneous space called a model space. In this book, the following spaces are considered model spaces: Hilbert space (or non-separable Hilbert spaces), the Hilbert cube, dense subspaces of Hilbert spaces being universal spaces for absolute Borel spaces, the direct limit of Euclidean spaces, and the direct limit of Hilbert cubes (which is homeomorphic to the dual of a separable infinite-dimensional Banach space with bounded weak-star topology).

DIGITAL WORLD

I'm going to start with infinite statements for the Digital World and everything within it. Such as infinite universes, infinite possibilities, infinite-sized worlds, worlds that continue to grow infinitely, infinite data/information, etc.

In the Digital World they're storage devices that record all the data within the Digital World. The Memorial Stelas from Re Digitize for example. They collect all of the information available through the flow of data within the Digital World. This information is stored and used to construct calculations, infinite possibilities (it mentions "overwhelming" possibilities, but we know they're infinite possibilities) of worlds through a "bottomless abyss" (literally infinite) of data where all of this is manifested.

Yggdrasill's Digital World has infinite possibilities.

Time is an endless stream (I would assume Clockmon is talking about Yggdrasill's DW).

The Digital World can't be measured.

Note: I'll get into the "Digital World transcending the Human World" later. The Digital World exists beyond the Human World, like a higher dimension. It would be overall larger, etc, than the Human World. The Human World has infinite universes with each universe branching more universes, etc. That alone would tell you that the Digital World is infinite (though I'm gonna ignore that part for later).

The Digital World is boundless with boundless data.

Interestingly enough, there are two lines about "infinite Digital World" in that text, but the Japanese text is different.

The first is “Access it, manipulate it... With any luck, we’ll gain admin privileges over it. It’s the only way we’ll find the people who went DMIA in this infinite Digital World.”

The original text:

「アクセスし、利用し……可能であれば管理下に置く。無辺のデジタルワールドからDMIA患者のデジモンを発見できるとすれば、これしか手段がなかった」

The term used here is "無辺のデジタルワールド", so literally "boundless Digital World" (muhen no dejitaru wārudo).

The second is "They were the first to leave their mark on the Source Domain between the Gateway and the limitless expanse of the Digital World".

The original text is:

〝原初の領域〟そこからつながる無辺のデータへと。"

The term used here is "無辺のデータ" (muhen no dēta), which means "boundless data". The kanji for boundless is the same, but here they translated "data" as "Digital World". Of course, the intent might be the same thing, but I find funny that while the original text tries to use different terms, the translation doesn't.

The Digital World extends infinitely. Every moment the Digital World expands more and more infinitely

Cyberspace EDEN [Metaverse] is a human network that contains numerous servers, each server being its own world. The servers can have layers/levels (possibly sub-worlds) and a single server can have an infinite amount of information. The Abyss Server alone has 30 levels/floors, each arguably its own dimension and contains an infinite amount of information. It was stated that all of EDEN is "small" compared to the Digital World. Even the "servers" of the Digital World would be superior to the "servers" of EDEN as well.

Notes:

-So EDEN is like a world with other worlds within it and the worlds within it can have infinite information. The Digital World >> EDEN. The Digital World's servers >> EDEN's servers. EDEN would be seen as a lower world and was even called a "small world".

The Digital World is an infinite world beyond the Network.

The Digital World is infinite.

The colossal amount of information (of the Network, and we know it transfers endless amount of information) has expanded the Digital World ad infinitum.

Vademon's dimension is apparently infinite in size.

Notes:

-The dimensions that are created by Digimon usually exist within the layers of the Digital World.

When two V-Pets connect to fight, the Digimon are transferred to an infinite battlefield, an endlessly expanding space where they can go all out.

Digimon's Digital DNA structure is an infinite/endless set of 0s and 1s.

They're other infinite statements, but some of them could be including other worlds as well, so I'll keep them separate.

It's mentioned that Omegamon is an existence that surpasses countless space-time. It shows him seemingly traveling through Digital Space, which is beyond the normal flow of space-time and can be used to travel through the layers/worlds of the Digital World.

Notes:

-Apparently the "infinite" may not be infinite, but many, a lot, etc. However, it can still mean infinite. With that said, ADV: does have a statement of the Digital World being infinite, and they're other statements outside of ADV: for the Digital World being infinite, having infinite possibilities, infinite information, transcends the Human World (infinite universes, etc), etc.

-This could potentially be including other worlds as well.

Mirei mentioned an infinite number of viewpoints have opened up. And the number of possible paths to take is endless.

Notes:

-Pretty sure she's referring to possibilities of the world. Mirei is known to talk about the cosmology like this and there's a lot of talk about cosmology, including the possibilities of the Digital World in this game.

-I don't know if this would be for the Digital World or what though.

Every possible world has emerged in a multi-layered way...and the worlds quite similar yet different to one another lie side-by-side.

Notes:

-They're statements of "infinite possibilities" for the Digital World, Human World, etc. So if you see "every possibility" or "all possibilities", it should be considered infinite.

There's likely some stuff missing here and there, but that's good enough I think.

So the Digital World is infinite, continues to expand more and more infinitely, has infinite possibilities, infinite-sized worlds within it, infinite information, Digimon within it having infinite information, and is above worlds that also contain infinite information.

The Digital World also transcends the Human World like a higher dimension. Similar to how the Eater's dimension transcends the Digital World. The Digital World itself has various layers, and they're layers even between the Digital World and Human World (such as the Network, etc). The Human World has infinite universes with each universe having more universes branching off of them. This goes on infinitely.

This should all be for a single Digital World as well, such as Yggdrasill's DW. The other Digital Worlds would be in a similar position (above the Network and Human World), although I don't know how many worlds, layers, etc, they have.

All of this information can also be stored with storages such as Memorial Stelas, etc, as well. The Kernel has the data of the whole Digital World and everything within it, including the past and future. Ravel has explained the Memorial Stelas here

Now onto layers, servers, worlds within the Digital World, etc.

Digimon uses a world hierarchy through layers. The Network is made of various layers, the Digital World is made of various layers, the Dark Area is made of various layers, and so on. And they're worlds within said layers as well, at least for some worlds, such as the Digital World.

They're apparently three Digital Worlds: Yggdrasill's Digital World, Digital World: Iliad (governed by Homeros), and a third Digital World.

It's possible the third was the Old Digital World, but I'm not sure and hope that's not the case as well. The Old and New Digital World merged together in Chronicle X.

Only multiple Digital Worlds makes sense because we're only aware of two Host Computers: Yggdrasill and Homeros (ENIAC/ABC and even GAIA probably don't even exist anymore). And each major Digital World is governed by a Host Computer. Yggdrasill for the Old/New Digital World and Homeros for Digital World: Iliad. They're also statements of their being "multiple (or a "variety" of) Digital Worlds, not infinite as well, which fits with this as well.

This will mostly be for Yggdrasill's Digital World, although we know they're other Digital Worlds on other servers, such as Digital World: Iliad. We have no idea how many layers Digital World: Iliad has. It could be several to an infinite amount.

The Digital World, such as Yggdrasill's Digital World, is made of various layers. These layers can also be called Digital Worlds as well. Sometimes you get statements such as "Digital Worlds from other dimensions" or "Digital Worlds of other dimensions. Layers = Dimensions, with the Digital Worlds within them. Occasionally you get "Other dimensional Digital Worlds", which seem to refer to worlds like Witchelny. However, the 25th anniversary book calls the layers Digital Worlds as well.

For example, Witchelny was stated to be another dimension of the Digital World / another Digital World of another dimension. The 25th anniversary book calls Witchelny another layer. Witchelny also has various realms, etc, it seems as well. Same with the dimension/Digital World that Nanimon is from, the dimensions/Digital Worlds that are mentioned in Abbadomon's profile, the dimensions/Digital Worlds that are mentioned in Canoweissmon's profile, etc.

In Tamers (probably other examples out there), it's mentioned that Digimon created their own universes within the layers.

This would probably be the case in general as well. For example, Vademon's dimension, which was said to be infinite in the Novel, should exist within a layer of the Digital World.

This becomes complicated if Digital Worlds such as Witchelny existing within said layers as well. So perhaps those worlds that are created by Digimon would be within these Digital Worlds that are within the dimensions/layers. And of course, we have the 25th anniversary book calling Witchelny a layer, not simply a Digital World within a dimension.

They're other things I could get into about this, but I'll do it later. Mostly speculation, unfortunately.

They have been called Digital Worlds, Other-dimensional Digital Worlds, layers, spaces, universes, worlds, etc. Possibly servers (I mean, DWs can exist on them. Somewhat reminds me of the "Digital Worlds of dimensions". Servers being the dimensions with the Digital Worlds being within them) and parallel worlds as well.

All of these layers (called Digital Worlds, dimensions, spaces, universes, worlds, etc) are all a part of a larger Digital World, such as Yggdrasill's Digital World, which is separate from other major Digital Worlds, such as Digital World: Iliad, which is governed by another Host Computer, Homeros.

Some thoughts about the layers/servers...

According to the 25th anniversary book, many Digital Worlds on different supercomputers and servers existed, and ended up merging with Yggdrasill's Digital World (except for DW: Iliad apparently). If Yggdrasill's DW and DW: Iliad are considered as "major" Digital Worlds, couldn't all of them be considered "major" Digital Worlds before they merged with other Digital Worlds, such as Yggdrasill's DW? It's unclear what the difference between servers and layers are as well. Before this, people believed they existed within the layers. However, now that may not be the case. When the servers with Digital Worlds merged with Yggdrasill's DW, it created complex layers.

Interestingly, New Century seemed to confirmed that DW: Iliad has its own Kernel, which are seen as a higher world beyond the normal Digital World.

So what happened when they merge with another Digital World? Where does the Kernel and other worlds go? In DWX, servers, which can have other Digital Worlds, did seemingly have "deeper areas/cores" as well.

Even though they talk about the Digital World as if it's a single place, but it's actually split into all sorts of layers (or dimensions). There are Digital Worlds in other dimensions. Witchelny is one of these Digital Worlds.

Noticed at the very beginning that they specifically mention that they talk about the Digital World as if it's a single place? This is usually true. They usually say Digital World or even world, universe, heaven/earth, but the Digital World is far more than merely a single world/universe. It's a world made of many layers and within the layers are more worlds that can also be called Digital Worlds.

The other Digital Worlds are usually just the worlds within the layers. The Digital Worlds that we see in the various anime, manga, games, etc? All likely within the layers. While the structure (called Digital World as well) that is made of these layers, transcends the entire Human World. It's in a hierarchical position beyond the entire Human World.

Currently, we're aware of two of these Digital Worlds: Yggdrasill's New/Old Digital World and Homeros' Digital World: Iliad.

Note:

-In the 25th anniversary book, it mentions that the very layers are Digital Worlds. For example, Witchelny is apparently a layer of the Digital World.

The Digital Worlds existed on servers and supercomputers and were separated, but eventually merged/connected with Yggdrasill's Digital World, creating a single world while having other isolated worlds as a part of it as complex layers. It seems not all Digital Worlds on different servers merged with Yggdrasill's Digital World considering Digital World: Iliad is on a server and still separate from Yggdrasill's Digital World (Yggdrasill's Digital World and Digital World: Iliad are considered as "major" Digital Worlds).

The Digital World consists of spaces called layers. Each layer has a different time progression, laws of physics, inhabited Digimon, etc, making each layer a completely different world. The Net Ocean acts as a "wall" separating the layers. It isolates each layer conceptually and secondarily, and as a result, protects each layer's environment from major changes.

"After the discovery of "Project Ark" by Yggdrasil, people felt threatened by the closed environment and clustered (parallelized) supercomputers and servers that contained Digital Worlds around the world by connecting them with each other via networks. The purpose was to distribute the load and improve the processing capacity of the Digital World, but this has also brought about the benefit of observing the unprecedented evolution of Digimon, as the separate Digital Worlds have been reborn as a single world constructed with complex layers. On the other hand, the influx of new researchers and the increasing complexity of the world structure have led to the creation of more black boxes, which in turn have created a causal relationship where problems in the Digital World cause events in the Real World."

The Digital World consists of spaces called layers. Each layer has a different time progression, laws of physics, and inhabited Digimon, making it a completely different world. The layers are separated by the Net Ocean, but they interfere with each other through the Net Ocean and can be affected by abnormalities that occur in other layers.

II-7 Net Ocean

The "Net Ocean" is a figurative expression; in reality, it is a collection of data, also called the Big Data.

The Internet gathers all kinds of data from all over the world, and changes in the information flowing through it are affecting the evolution of Digimon.

In today's Digital World, the Net Ocean acts as a "wall" separating layers. It isolates each layer conceptually and secondarily, and as a result, protects each layer's environment from major changes.

Ravel has explained the above as well.

After this detour in the Yggdrasil explanation, the next topic is the introduction of another important new keyword never used before, the “Clustered Digital World” (クラスタ化されたデジタルワールド). As a result of the breakdown of the barriers put by Yggdrasil, that Digital World was fused with many other Digital Worlds from different supercomputers and servers as a single Cluster that is divided into many layers now existing thanks to Cloud Technology.

Basically, the network of many Digital Worlds that before existed as not part of the same structure are now under the same overall system with each individual world now being connected, while still isolated, to the other by the Net Ocean, also called the Big Data, that keeps each world with their own laws and concepts. The world of Witchelny is an example of a different layer.

This explanation finishes the second page and what we see on pages 3 and 4 is an expansion of the details of that structure. This includes a diagram that explained the most popular places in the structure, but it lacks a lot of explanation.

"Due to Yggdrasil’s “Project Ark” and the subsequent clustering, the Digital World has undergone dramatic changes since its creation. The major Digital Worlds currently confirmed include the one managed by Yggdrasil, the one separated from it, and the “Iliad” managed by Homeros. There’s a Dark Area for each of them, they are connected to Cocytus, which can be said to be another Digital World. The most famous Other-dimensional Digital World is “Witchelny”, but it’s believed that there are many Other-dimensional Digital Worlds that haven’t been observed yet.

STRUCTURE OF THE DIGITAL WORLD"

Previously Kazumasa Habu, while working on the next Digimon Story game, stated that in the documented settings that there were three Digital Worlds, one hosted by Yggdrasil, one hosted by Homeros -Illiad-, and a third Digital World. He also explained that Other-dimensional Digital Worlds such as Witchelny didn’t count toward that. Although we never got an update from him since then,he claimed he would like to have answered during the Anime Expo live stream

but didn’t have the time to say about that.

The content of this book seemed to be including this type of information, but basically, the same questions we had before continue to exist here as we really can’t be sure about anything. Ever since the release of the Digimon Profile on Witchelny

and the scanning of some old books, it seemed that the answer was that other dimensions like Witchelny were still considered a part of a single “Digital World” as the Digital World itself was the name of the world in the computer network that included many dimensions, including that where Digimon live. If that is the case then Witchelny would be inside the individual Digital Worlds that were hosted by different Host Computers.

However, both Digital Worlds hosted by different Host Computers and Other-dimensional Digital Worlds like Witchelny all seem to exist in kind of the same structure, as if you count them all as different Digital Worlds and the difference isn’t clear. After all, why is Witchelny called “other-dimensional Digital World”, but not something like Illiad? The book really doesn’t explain the hierarchy very well and the details of what counts of not as a Digital World, other dimension, different server, and so on are still a mystery.

The fact that the clustering happened after the events of Digimon Chronicle could be used to explain the changes in definition and that maybe in the past places like Withcleny did exist inside a single Digital World, but now that all the Digital Worlds are “clustered” in a single organization, they became all kind of the same. But the very diagram of the Digital World is a bit confusing as it’s divided into the “pre-clustered” and “post-clustered” and the “pre-clustered” era is just two boxes under the name of Ancient Time that talk about the Warrior Ten and Imperialdramon Paladin Mode, something that really feels out of place considering this information will be repeated again just a few pages later.

Even the mention of “the one separated to it”, which could imply to be a reference to this “third Digital World”, is in fact just a reference to the New Digital World that was featured in Digimon Chronicle, as in the diagram it’s qualified as the one “separated” (分離, bunri), so it’s still the one hosted by Yggdrasil in some way.

I'll go over Witchelny a little.

Witchelny being called "Other-dimensional Digital World".

There's a Digimon called Medieval Dukemon, who was the hero of the other-dimensional world, Witchelny.

The Digital World is more than just the world where Digimon live, the commonly known “Digital World” is just one of the many dimensions that exist in the Computer Network also called the “Digital World”, one of the other dimensions is Witchelny, home of Wizarmon.

Witchelny is another dimension of this Digital World.

An advanced Demon Man Digimon that came from the Digital World of another dimension. In its native Digital World (Witchelny)it mastered the sorcery (high-level programming language) of fire and earth, and although it aimed to become a great wizard, it appeared in the Digimon World in order to train.

We know Wizarmon has travelled through other worlds, and these worlds would likely also be within the "Digital World", just like Witchelny.

Also, as an additional result of wandering across several worlds and training, it learned "Bolt Break", lightning sorcery powerful enough to cause quantum disintegration using both of its hands.

It is more strongly influenced by its Witchelny data, and the magical power within it has also increased. As a result of wandering and training throughout the world, it learned lightning sorcery powerful enough to cause quantum disintegration.

Witchelny seems to have its own realms as well, such as the realm of thunder, realm of ice, etc.

Ravel has talked about Witchelny as well, so people can read his stuff for more information.

More.

Translation issues due to Japanese not having proper plural, vagueness, entire/every Digital World, etc (includes Witchelny).

Alright, I think that's enough for Witchelny. Pretty sure people understand how Witchelny fits into the cosmology now.

More about the "Digital Worlds of other dimensions", etc.

Canoweissmon's profile mentions "Digital Worlds of other dimensions". In Ghost Game, to reach said Digital Worlds of other dimensions, you have to transcend dimensions

which is consistent of what we know about traveling between the worlds/layers of the Digital World.

It is said that when it draws out power that transcends its limits during battle, its whole body will glitter with white light, and become so bright that it can even be detected from the Digital Worlds of other dimensions.

Nanimon is from a Digital World of another dimension. And just like with Canoweissmon in Ghost Game, it requires you to transcend dimensions.

A Digimon whose true identity is unknown, it arrived in the Digital World from another dimension in order to invade it. It was known by the title "OYAJI" in the other dimension, where it was raised as a digital pet. While it loves alcohol and has an oppressive personality, ever since it invaded this Digital World (though the exact details regarding its invasion are unknown), it evolved to become more active and turned into Nanimon.

Its true form is unknown!? It's an invader from another dimension!

Its middle-age power explodes!? This étranger has transcended dimensions!

However, the mystery about Nanimon’s birthplace intensifies. What is the existence of the Other-dimensional Digital World!?

An unidentified Digimon that invaded from another dimension's Digital World. Was commonly called "OYAJI" in the different dimension. After entering this Digital World

Abbadomon's profile mentions that it's undoubtedly a crisis for the entire Digital World and it's conjectured that some Digital Worlds from other dimensions have been annihilated by it. Again, Digital Worlds from other dimensions. The entire Digital World = all the dimensions and Digital Worlds within them.

This is explained by Ravel as well.

The birth of Abbadomon is undoubtedly a crisis for the entire Digital World, and it is conjectured that some Digital Worlds from other dimensions have been annihilated by it.

Fantomon's cloth is connected to a Digital World of a different dimension

Also, just like Bakemon, the contents of the cloth that covers its body are shrouded in mystery, but it is believed that it is connected to a Digital World of a different dimension.

Metal Fantomon operates using an energy supply from another dimension's Digital World.

A Cyborg Digimon that fully mechanized the body of the Reaper-like Fantomon. It operates using an energy supply from another dimension's Digital World

This is also used in Frontier as well.

The inside of their capes is connected to a different dimension in the Digital World!

The "Wandering Island" is capable of transcending dimensions, allowing it to travel through the dimensions of the Digital World.

And in Tamers (excluding some stuff from Tamers right now. I will get into Tamers soon).

And of course, we have stuff from the 25th anniversary book.

Yggdrasill's New Digital World, the one separated from it (likely referring to the Old Digital World, which merges back with the New Digital World in Chronicle X), and Digital World: Iliad, which is managed by Homeros. That's a total of three Digital Worlds, which also fits with the statement from Re Digitize with their being a "variety" of Digital Worlds (or "multiple" Digital Worlds) not infinite.

Any other Digital World (can also be called Digital Worlds, Other-dimensional Digital World, spaces, dimensions, layers, etc) would just be a layer/dimension of a major Digital World (Yggdrasill's DW or Homeros' DW) or even a dimension of said layers/dimensions of a major Digital World.

And they're many more examples. For example, Parrotmon transcended space-time by going through a space-time rift, which led to another Digital World. Wisemon would probably be another example as well. Volcano Ota even mentioned that they're parallel worlds within the Digital World and Kazumasa Habu mentioned that Witchenlny is a Digital World that exists in a parallel world

(fits with it being within a dimension/layer of the Digital World).

And the above examples are just like the situation with Witchelny. In fact, I'll go over some of the examples with Witchelny again.

An advanced Demon Man Digimon that came from the Digital World of another dimension. In its native Digital World (Witchelny)

It came from Witchelny, another Digital World, in order to train to become a great wizard. It has already acquired fire and earth elemental magic. It covers its face due to its shyness.

An advanced Demon Man Digimon that came from the Digital World of another dimension.

Wizarmon's comrade who came from "Witchelny", the Digital World of another dimension. It is adept in light and ice sorcery (high-level programming languages), and when it offers prayer, it can heal wounds with its holy power. Its Special Move is summoning a snow cloud from its snow crystal-affixed staff, generating an immense blizzard (Crystal Cloud).

A Digimon which has the appearance of a witch, it came along from "Witchelny", the Digital World of another dimension, in pursuit of its rival, Wizarmon.

A Magic Warrior Digimon who came from "Witchelny", the Digital World of another dimension.

It protected other Digimon until the very end when the Digital World was visited by an ice age long ago, and was later rumored to have moved to another dimension's "Witchelny".

In "Witchelny", the Digital World of another dimension

Digital World of a Different Dimension

Wizarmon belongs to the Demon Man-type. It came from a Digital World of a different dimension for training. It uses a special technique that is called thunder magic.

A high-level Demon Man Digimon that came from a Digital World of another dimension, different from this world. In its previous Digital World (Witchelny)

The Digital World is more than just the world where Digimon lives, the commonly known “Digital World” is just one of the many dimensions that exist in the Computer Network also called the “Digital World”, one of the other dimensions is Witchelny, home of Wizarmon.

Another dimension world・Witchelny Hero

In the other-dimensional world of Witchelny, he is praised as a "legendary hero. He wears armor created by magic. He is also called "General of the Whirlwind" because of his leadership of the wind warriors.

The world of medieval magic, Witchelny

Witchelny is a world of wizards and witches created by magic (a high-class program language). It was M Dukemon who suddenly appeared when magic was immature and wiped out the invasion of foreign enemies.

Witchelny is another dimension of this Digital World.

I know we talk about the Digital World like a single place, but it's actually split into all sorts of layers (or dimensions, if you will). There are Digital Worlds in other dimensions, different from the Digital World that's home to File Island. This time we're here to talk about one such world: the magical land of Witchelny.

Due to Yggdrasil’s “Project Ark” and the subsequent clustering, the Digital World has undergone dramatic changes since its creation.

The Digital World consists of spaces called layers. Each layer has a different time progression, laws of physics, and inhabited Digimon, making it a completely different world. The Otherwordly Digital World represented by "Witchelny" is also one of the layers.

Beings that come from Witchelny, the Digital World of another dimension.

It's a world of magic that exists in another dimension.

Past World: Urd Terminal

This is a dangerous world inhabited by many ferocious Digimon, such as Dinosaur-types and Beast-types. It is made up of the "Roland Continent", the "Goldia Continent", and the "Lemoore Continent". In addition, there is a "King Dragon Legend" on the Roland continent, and there is a forest where the "Forest Leaf" that connects this Digital World with the Other-dimensional Digital World exists, and there are many sightings of the "Fantasy Warrior (Medieval Dukemon)" in that forest.

ウィッチェルニー(別次元)

Witchelny (Different Dimension)

管轄 : 元老院

Jurisdiction: Senate

居住 : 魔術系デジモン

Resident: Magical Digimon

Witchelny may even have its own realms/dimensions as well.

A mage from the realm of thunder, it unleashes its electric attacks in between flashes!

A mage from the realm of ice, it unleashes a freezing blast while the frost clears!

So we have the Digital World, which is made up of various layers, which can be called dimensions (can also be called spaces, universes, etc). And within those dimensions/layers, are Digital Worlds, such as Witchelny, the world that Nanimon came from, and so on. And these worlds may have their own realms/dimensions as well.

The different seasons of the anime, the games, manga, and so on would likely be taking place within these Digital Worlds that are within the various dimensions/layers of a specific Digital World, such as Yggdrasill's Digital World.

And this isn't exclusive to the games either. They're examples of this in the anime, manga, profiles, information books, interviews, and so on.

Still don't understand? Imagine a very large dimension that is made up of other large dimensions that have dimensions within them.

Very large dimensions = Yggdrasill's DW, Homeros DW, etc.

Large dimensions = layers

Dimensions = Digital Worlds within the layers

The confusing part is that each one can be called a Digital World apparently. And in rare cases, the Digital World can be talking about the planet that the Digimon normally live on, although this is something that probably shouldn't be considered unless it's obviously not talking about the universe/multiverse/whatever of the Digital World.

I think I'll go over Tamers and the New Digital World next, then it'll probably be random stuff for worlds/servers/layers of the Digital World.

In Tamers, the Digital World was shown to be made out of layers, with each layer being its own small universe. And within each layer (small universes), are mini-universes. Small does not mean small, but Konaka used it with the nuance of a subset.

The Digital World has multiple layers with miniverses scattered throughout the layers with the deepest/highest level being the layer created by the Four Holy Beasts the Digimon's gods from where they maintain the order and stability of the Digital World.

The Digital World is also beyond the Network and by extension the Human World aka in a superior hierarchical position. Is also said that the D-Reaper hibernated in the depths of the Digital World deeper than even the refuge of the Holy Beasts and that the depths of the Net that gave birth to the D-Reaper is connected to another world inhabited by a "God of Death.

The Digital World is a large world made up of other worlds (layers) with even more worlds within those worlds/layers.

According to Qinglongmon, in order to reach the Digital World's physical layer from the Real World, you must travel through six layers to reach it. This was the Digital World when it first created.

Above the various layers of the Digital World exists the Holy Beasts' domain, which is highest level of the Digital World; the Digimon equivalent to Olympus. It's said that this domain is the closest to the "Gods".

In Decode, on floor 93 of the Infinity Mountain, it's mention for who is lost may Qinglongmon protect them. He guards the east. This somewhat fits with them being close to God (Yggdrasill, on floor 100). Could be a reference for the Holy Beasts existing near God.

They're even more layers/worlds beyond the Holy Beasts' domain, such as the world that the D-Reaper created, and the world that the D-Reaper made contact with.

This legendary thunder dragon lowers its cool-headed judgement from its domain near the gods!

As the being closest to god, this holy dragon calls upon the thunder of judgment!

A Perfect Digimon which has the appearance of the "Rabbit" from among the twelve holy beasts of oriental legends. These twelve holy beast Digimon are called the "Deva", and serve "beings" close to the gods.

Ravel has explained the Tamers' cosmology. Read his blog for more information.

Alright, that's enough for Tamers I think.

The Digital World is managed through multiple servers, and that every moment the Digital World expands more and more infinitely.

Chapter Two: In order to delete Digimon that are overloading the servers, Yggdrasill activates the X-Program!

Yggdrasil created a New Digital World with three layers: Ulud (Past), Versandi (Present), and Skuld (Future).

Chapter Three: A New Digital World that is composed of three levels: the 'past', 'present', and 'future'!

The new digital world is divided into three layers. It consists of the "Past" where ancient species such as dinosaurs prosper, the "Present" where various species are born, and the "Future" where there are many artificially evolved species.

This is a world where even time can be crossed by moving between layers!“NDW” is a secure virtual experiment space outside the host computer and does not store data in the host computer itself. The three-layer "Chronicle Layer System" is designed to efficiently manage Digimon according to their evolutionary status, while decentralizing data.

The New Digital World (NDW) consists of three layers: past, present and future. Each layer has a different species and civilization, movement across space-time between the layers is possible !!

What the "X antibody" brought

The management system removed and transferred the life data "DORUmon" from Death-X-DORUgoramon. Nonetheless, the "shell data" continued to be active and appeared in NDW's World of the Future !!

NEW Digital World consisting of three worlds. The "Project: Ark," a measure to avoid the digital hazard, was the implementation of the "X Program," while the Royal Knights and some other Digimon necessary for Yggdrasil were transferred to NDW the other Digimon were deleted. However, the "instinct to exist" of life gave birth to "X-evolution" that tries to continue to survive and "X-evolution of Death" that tries to continue to exist even after dying! !!Since they do not have a digicore (life), they are not classified as digimon, but appear in a temporary form but have no substance. The process of detecting the digicores, taking them into the body, breaking them down, and processing them so that they cannot be reconstituted again is repeated forever. It is a simple program, but it is presumed to be in a realm of existence that is impossible to defeat.

Separated

New Digital World

It is designed outside of Yggdrasil to avoid burdening the host computer with data storage and is divided into three layers by a system called the "Chronicle Layer System" for efficient management.

Present World: Versandi Terminal

The world is inhabited by the widest variety of Digimon. It's peaceful when compared to the future or the past.

Future World: Skuld Terminal

A futuristic city with tall buildings. It is dominated by Cyborg-type and Machine-type Digimon. The "Aerial Secret Base Royal Base" floats in the sky, and the above the ground the "Secret Corps Royal Command" is operating secretly.

Past World: Ulud Terminal

This is a dangerous world inhabited by many ferocious Digimon, such as Dinosaur-types and Beast-types. It is made up of the "Roland Continent", the "Goldia Continent", and the "Lemoore Continent". In addition, there is a "King Dragon Legend" on the Roland continent, and there is a forest where the "Forest Leaf" that connects this Digital World with the Other-dimensional Digital World exists, and there are many sightings of the "Fantasy Warrior (Medieval Dukemon)" in that forest.

The three major terminals were mentioned in Re Digitize Decode as well.

Host Computer Yggdrasil (ホストコンピューターイグドラシル): Putting itself beyond the New Digital World, it has adopted a structure that does not accumulate data in itself. In addition, it has designated the 3 layers (Chronicle Layer System ~クロニクルレイヤーシステム~) to distribute the data and manage the Digimon efficiently.

Ulud is a layer that controls the "past". It is an environment of rich nature and the Digimon of the so-called Ancient Species live here. Ulud is the lowest layer, events here will affect Versandi and Skuld.

Versandi is a layer that controls "present". It is the most similar to the former Digital World, it is a place developed to a certain extent with the human hands and the Digimon that are here. It reflects the events that occurred in Ulud and is the intermediate layer that will affect Skuld.

Skuld is a layer that controls the “future”. It is based on the result of simulating the future of the Digital World of Yggdrasill. It is the highest layer reflecting what occurred in Ulud and Versandi.

At the end of Chronicle X, the NDW and ODW merge together.

Yggdrasil sent a e-mail to the Royal Knights' saying that the Old and New DW are going to be fused. Jesmon thinks that this may cause a Digital Hazard and reactive the Project Ark, but it's said that the tamers found a solution for that.

Ulud, Versandi, and Skuld have been called terminals, levels, layers, worlds, etc. They're all a part of the "NEW Digital World". The "OLD Digital World" is separated from the NDW, although merges back at the end of Chronicle X. The ODW should have other worlds, etc, as well.

In order to cross between the layers (Ulud, Versandi, and Skuld) you have to transcend time itself. This is usually the case when traveling between the layers/worlds of the Digital World (plenty of statements of going beyond space-time, beyond dimensions, etc, to travel between the layers/worlds).

There's some more stuff here and there for the NEW Digital World, but I think that's good enough. Now onto some random stuff for layers, servers, worlds within the Digital World, etc.

According to Digimon Biology 2, the Sega Saturn and the Wonder Swan were connecting with different worlds, and in each of them lived unique Digimon. Just as there are many unknown Digimon, there are many unknown worlds (all should be a part of the "Digital World").

There is a world called the "Swan World", which is also connected to the Digital World from this Wonder Swan. There existed many worlds Ravel went over this as well.

The Digital World, a different World from the Real World here we live born from the Digital Network. There is a world which is said to be the "Swan World" which is also connected to the Digital World from this Wonder Swan. There existed many worlds, and many Digimon were living happily, brightly. However, one day because of something, this Digital World began to break. And from this Swan World, most Digimon disappeared and the Swan World was wrapped in the World of Darkness.

Notes: Apparently the text flipped flopped between the Swan World being one of the Digital Worlds or just connected to it. Even if we assume it's one of the Digital Worlds, it would mean that the Digital World has "many worlds". So no matter how you look at it, this "world" has many other worlds.

There are many spaces in the Digital World

迷いこんだら大変!

It's terrible if you get lost!

解明されていない謎の空間が、 デジタルワールドにもいくつも存在する。どの空間も不気味で居心地の悪いイメージがある。

There are many unexplained mysterious spaces in the Digital World. These spaces have an eerie and uncomfortable image.

In the Digimon Twin Storyline, "training boxes" are spaces that exist through the layers of the Digital World and they're accessed through addresses (similar to servers in the Digimon Story games. It's also used for the servers within the Networks as well).

In Digimon World 3, Digimon Online was administered on 5 servers: Amaterasu, Izumo, Asuka, Yamato, and Ikaruga. The Network Interstice was the place between the servers (similar to Digital Space, which is beyond the normal flow of space-time) and was used to travel between the servers

In Digimon World X, the Digital World was said to be currently comprised of 16 servers. It's likely those servers were called Digital Worlds as well (we know that Digital Worlds exist on servers, such as Digital World: Iliad and the many Digital Worlds that were mentioned in the 25th anniversary book that merged with Yggdrasill's Digital World). Two of those servers, the Yamato and Asuka servers, are possibly the same ones from DW3. They were called "worlds" (possibly "Digital Worlds"). In addition, each copy of the game can be interpreted as a different server (this is also used in other games as well).

The story begins with an incident that stops the access of all the servers of the Digital World and the Real Worlds.

Abnormalities in the Digital World caused malfunction in the Servers and access to Real World was stopped. You will have to find out what the cause of this incident is on a large scale

Notes:

-Servers seem to have deeper areas/cores, similar to the Digital World itself (like a Kernel).

-They're many more things about servers within the game, but I think that's good enough. I may add more later.

-Currently, the Digital World should have far more than 16 servers. This game was released many years ago. Definitely outdated.

Digital Worlds can exist on servers.

In Lost Evolution, it's mentioned that "servers" are worlds. As servers increase, the Digital World becomes larger. Similar to what is said in Tamers, with the Digital World expanding ad infinitum as the Network/Internet increases. Areas within other servers are accessed through addresses, similar to other games and the Digimon Twin Storyline as well.

Note: Interestingly, we also have something similar mentioned in the 25th anniversary book. The "servers connecting to the Digital World, the larger it grows" reminds me of the servers containing other Digital Worlds merging/connecting with Yggdrasill's Digital World (creating a complex layered structure).

Digimon Story Moonlight/Sunburst makes a reference to those coming from other "areas/servers".

Again, in the Digimon Story games, each copy of the game can be interpreted as a different server (used in several games).

In Digimon Linkz, it's mentioned that servers are worlds.

They're many servers that were shown in Linkz.

According to Volcano Ota, they're parallel worlds within the Digital World.

Layers of the Digital World being mentioned by Habu Kazumasa.

More stuff with different dimensions within the Digital

In Tamers, Omegamon was shown traveling through Digital Space, which was said to be beyond the normal flow of space-time, which can also be used to travel through the various worlds/layers of the Digital World. Omegamon mentions that he came from a "digital reality in a different dimension" (I'll have to recheck on this sub/translation). This fits with worlds within layers / Digital Worlds of other dimensions.

Notes:

-Interestingly,Omegamon from ADV: was seemingly shown traveling through Digital Space as well. It's said that he surpasses countless space-time.

Digital Space is outside of the normal flow of space-time.

This fits with this as well.

More stuff from Ravel about the Digital World being multi-layered, etc.

Ravel talked about the above in his blog as well.

Stuff about servers, etc.

Other-dimensional Digital World being mentioned in Next Order. This would likely be another layer (or a Digital World within a layer). "Other-dimensional Digital World" seems to be used for Digital Worlds that are either another layer or a world within a layer.

Witchelny has been called "Other-dimensional Digital World" and it's a world within a layer.

I already mentioned a part of this, but I'm going to mention it again.

This is not the first time that vagueness from Japanese affected the understanding of something from it, the very recent Abbadomon had a term that was translated as "Every Digital World" that would later be retranslated as "The entire Digital World".

This is because the word "Subete" normally means the entirety of something, but since there's no plural if given it the intent of "many" could also be used to mean "every". So something written with it could mean "The Entire World" or "every world".

Abbadomon's profile originally said "every Digital World", but it was changed to the "entire Digital World". In this context, it means the same thing. Entire Digital World = All Digital Worlds.

The birth of Abbadomon is undoubtedly a crisis for the entire Digital World, and it is conjectured that some Digital Worlds from other dimensions have been annihilated by it.

In a way, the structure of the Net Ocean seen in Appmon is similar to the structure of the Digital World.

The layers (Surface Web, Deep Web, Dark Web) having "servers" within them. Although in Appmon, those servers didn't seem to be actual worlds, but islands in bubbles (it's possible they're seen as small spaces though, but it was never stated).

They're many more examples out there and I'm sure we'll get many more in the future, but I think that's good enough for now.

Alright, now onto the Digital World being superior to the Human World. Digimon's cosmology structure is based on neoplatonic emanationism (with higher levels of existence transcending lower levels of existence), but I'm not going to get into that (trexalfa went over that). Actually, I'll copy/paste some stuff from Ravel with some of the Neoplatonic Emanationism and Gnosticism in Digimon. This started with Digimon Adventure and is still continued here and there in various works. Digimon Survive for example.

The Digital World isn't just an infinite world with layers; there's far more to it.

The Digital World is multi-layered with worlds existing within each layer. Each layer transcends the previous, in the same way that the Digital World transcends the Human World, the Kernel transcending the Digital World, and the worlds beyond the Kernel/Digital World, such as Eaters' world. It's all a part of the hierarchy.

They're also apparently three Digital Worlds. Yggdrasill's Digital World (known as the normal Digital World or NEW Digital World), Homeros' Digital World (known as Digital World: Iliad), and the third Digital World (could be the Old Digital World even though it recently merged with the NEW Digital World).

Most of the worlds that we've seen has been from Yggdrasill's Digital World. Any other world most likely just exists within one of these Digital Worlds. Each Digital World would also have its own Dark Area and Kernel (we know Yggdrasill's DW has its own Kernel and it was recently confirmed in New Century that DW: Iliad has its own Kernel as well), etc.

According to the Digimon Story Artbook, a hierarchy of worlds exists. This includes the Human World, Dark Area (and its layers), Digital World (and its layers), Infinity Mountain, Kernel, the higher plane mentioned in Ragna Lordmon's profile, Super Dimensional Space-Time, the higher dimensions beyond the Kernel, etc. The Human World (infinite universes, infinite timelines, etc) is at the bottom of the totem pole. All of it is a part of the hierarchy. The Eaters consume data throughout the hierarchy, which includes the Digital World and Human World.

The Eaters consume data throughout the hierarchy, which includes the Digital World and Human World. The hierarchy includes the Human World, Digital World, and the worlds beyond the Digital World itself (Infinity Mountain, Kernel, the worlds mentioned in Cyber Sleuth, etc). They're some other worlds that should be a part of this hierarchy as well. The Human World is at the bottom.

The Digital Worlds transcend the Human Worlds.

The Digital World was said to exist on a higher structural level than the Human World. It's in a hierarchical position superior to the Human World, to the point that it is encompassed by the Digital World. It wouldn't be possible to process the Digital World's data even if the universe (or multiverse) itself is used.

Notes:

-Apparently the original text is more direct with the respect to the Digital World being in a hierarchical position superior to the universe of the humans to the point that the universe is encompassed by the Digital World. It also apparently said more directly that the comparison is not of the computer resources available in the human universe, but rather about using the universe itself as a method of processing the Digital World. Regardless, the Digital World is overall superior (size, complexity, etc) to the Human World.

-Universe = Whole Human World/Digital World in this context, which of course includes other worlds.

Another translation

Humans are suffering on the bottom, and on the top are Kemonogami (eventually become Digimon). These share aspects of the God-like beings in ancient times (Holy Beasts). This composition bothers the professor. Traditionally, heaven would be on top, hell on bottom. This seems to be implying that the world of the Kemonogami/Gods live in a world beyond the world where humans live in.

Heaven = World of Kemonogami/Gods. Hell = World of humans. The world of Kemonogami/Gods is beyond the world of the humans, like heaven being above hell. This fits with what we know about this world (eventually becoming the Digital World) existing beyond the Human World. These areas are meant to indicate a hierarchical arrangement.

That should be enough for now.

So we have the following for the Digital Worlds so far.

-The Digital World is infinite, has infinite information, and infinite possibilities (this is likely for Yggdrasill's DW alone). Even the inhabitants can have infinite information.

-They're three Digital Worlds: Yggdrasill's DW, Homeros' DW, and a third. The third was probably the Old Digital World, which is now merged with Yggdrasill's DW.

-Those three Digital Worlds can be seen as the "major" Digital Worlds. They're made of layers that can be called spaces, universes, dimensions, etc.

-Within those layers/dimensions are other "Digital Worlds". Witchelny for example is a Digital World of another dimension/layer. These Digital Worlds can also be called "other dimensional Digital Worlds / Worlds" as well.

-The 25th anniversary calls the layers/dimensions Digital Worlds as well. For example, Witchelny was called a layer (yes this makes things confusing).

-Digimon uses a world hierarchy with layers that's based on Neoplatonic Emanationism. This started as early as Digimon Adventure and continued here and there. A good example would be Digimon Survive, but it's not the only example that used this (even Tri mentioned this stuff).

-The Digital World exists on a higher structural level to the point that it encompasses the Human World. It completely transcends the Human World.

Taiki asks if the Digital World comes from the digital technology that humans made. Wisemon replies and says "quite the reverse". The Digital World existed for a much longer time than the Human world. It's only recently that humans finally learned how to use a part of the Digital World. It's a huge world, and if the Bagra army changed this huge world, it'll affect the Human World as well.

The Digital World is a vast and complex world.

The Digital World and Human World are normally separate from each other.

The Digital World is completely beyond human understanding.

Digimon are beyond human comprehension

we had a similar statement with God Appmon, which exist within the Network

There are three Digital Worlds, the Digital World managed by Yggdrasil, the Illiad that is managed by Homerus, and another 1 Digital World.

I was certain that Witchelny was the 3rd Digital World, but that was a wrong guess, Witchelny is a Digital World that exists in a parallel world.

The setting of the three Digital Worlds is a setting for the worldview developed mainly in the LCD Game “Digital Monster”, I think that the Digital World is depicted with different settings in the anime and old games.

The AX live stream has finished! Thank you to everyone who watched. It's a shame that the nerdy questions I wanted to answer were cut off due to time running out... About the third digital world, Witchelny, etc. I'd love to talk to you again somewhere. I also wanted to answer more questions from fans!

In Ghost Game, Ultimate-level Digimon aren't to be depicted as just Digimon that evolved past Perfect-level, but are God-like existences that each have their own world/universe.

This is referring to inner-worlds that are usually within their Digi-Cores. For example

Regulusmon/Canoweissmon had their own "inner world", which contained many universes (a world with other worlds).

They're other examples of this as well.

New Century has brought back timelines for the Digital World. It also mentions layers of space-time, temporal axes (seems to imply they're more than one) with them having timelines.

The Human World, humans, etc, being seen as imperfect, incomplete, etc.

The concept of time of the Digital World is different compared to the Human World. Time normally flows faster.

It normally requires you to travel beyond space/time/dimensions to reach other worlds/layers of the Digital World.

The reason why things from the Digital World can materialize in the Real World is because the idea of the soul in this work is close to the Neo-Platonist theory of outflow.

What would become the digital world and

the human world used to be one until they were split apart in ancient times. This world is the one the humans abandoned...the world of instinct. https://imgur.com/a/DODmSGM

Humans have a pronounced effect on both this world and the Kemonogami/Digimon. The place the protagonists of Survive and the Master were in the final battle was a nexus between worlds. The world of the Kemonogami/Digimon didn't need sacrifices as much as the strong feelings from these sacrificial rites.Basically it needs human toughts and emotion. Our awareness and attention. What they witnessed with the voices that weakened the Master and calmed his raging spirit like what an offering would do for a god was a spike in the human attention on this world. The world is maintained through people's awareness of it. Just thinking about it humans changed this world. In a way,all worlds are a result of human conciousness. The mind seeks ideals, builds a society to realize them and then shapes an enviroment. In a sense everything springs from human tought. By making people aware of the world of the Kemonogami it would be possible to preserve it.Historically shrine maidens interceded between humans and gods. The Minase song of Myuki that can even open the gate between worlds may work the same. By posting videos and pictures from that other world together with the footage of Piemon and the reports of the door to the other world stories of that world and the monsters who live there have caught on as an urban legend. It feels like the start of a new belief.Nowadays, people's beliefs come in the form of digital information on the Internet. The information there gets updated by people all the time. It's constantly being reworked. And with every update, people will think more and more about that other world.Meanwhile, that kind of explosion of exposure is sure to change that world as well. From now on, digital data will be the new form of belief that sustains it.People may even come to refer to it as the "Digital World." Human belief is even said to transcend dimensional space and no doubt it has something to do with the power of Myuki's song to connect the two worlds. The beings of that other world, once regarded as local gods or Kemonogami will be transformed into digital beings in this Internet age and that would make the Kemonogami become monsters of the Digital World. Basically since collective human tought is so intertwined and dependent on this age of tehnology and since the world of the Kemonogami and the Kemonogami themselves are shaped and change according to human feelings and toughts since the belief of humanity is so centered around tehnology in this age,the Kemonogami have turned into "Digital Monsters" and their world became a realm sustained not by human sacriffices but by digital data. A "digital world" https://imgur.com/a/Rbx4m6L

As for the Digimon they existed as shikigami, deities, spirits, demons, yokai inhabitting this world. They existed alongside humans since ancient times and manifested either through magic or sorcery or have been subjugated as shikigami through the ancient art of onmyodo. https://imgur.com/a/rBz57ij

They are souls that took a digital form. The missing half of the souls of each human being. https://imgur.com/a/60iJBPJ

When it comes to Digimon's cosmology, the worlds are not simply side-by-side of each other (or all over the place). Digimon goes by a world hierarchy (that have been called layers, levels, etc), meaning the worlds go vertically, up and down. The Human World for example is a part of that hierarchy, and it happens to be at the very bottom.

The worlds of the Human World would be side-by-side, horizontally. With the worlds of the Digital World also existing horizontally within its layers (the DW is made up of various layers), but the entire Digital World itself is beyond the Human World (all of them) because it's in a hierarchical position superior to it. Due to the Human World being at the very bottom, any world that's a part of the hierarchy (layers beyond the HW) would be beyond the Human World. This can start before even touching the Digital World. The Human World is your classic infinite multiverse.

Every possible world has emerged in a multi-layered way...and the worlds quite similar yet different to one another lie side-by-side. https://imgur.com/a/rTO5DYx

It's both vertically and horizontally.

I've used this example elsewhere but I guess I can use it here as well. Let's take a site like Reddit. The site itself would be the whole Digital World. Each subreddit would be a layer with each layer being superior to the last and it goes like this until you reach the top.The layers are basically higher dimensions .And each post within the subreddit would be a server/universe/timeline within that layer. So you can see each subreddit/layer as a collection of posts/universes/timelines, basically you can see the layers as their own multiverses. Problem is we don't know exactly how many layers the Digital World has. We know of the existence of at least 2-3 layers based on entrances like Chronicle/Chronicle X, X-Evolution and Tamers. So destroying the Digital World entails either destroying those worlds within the layers or destroying all the layers and all the worlds within the layers.

It depends on context.

The Digital Worlds are layers that are a part of a larger world that is also called a Digital World. If a Digital World is destroyed (or affected in any way), then it's either a layer or a whole Digital World that includes said layers. These worlds should be in a similar position to Yggdrasill's Digital World, which transcends the Human World (so Yggdrasill's DW would be beyond a HW, Homeros' DW would be beyond a HW, etc). In fact, according to Re Digitize (Decode), they're a variety of Digital Worlds, and all of them transcend the Human Worlds (each should have a Human World below them). We don't know how many layers would make up those worlds though (we don't know much about these worlds in general. Most worlds we've seen have been a part of Yggdrasill's DW).I believe verses like Umineko and the Dark Tower use similar logic with layers.

Digimon also works with String Theory. The particles of the Human World are said to be strings.Particles are considered to be in the shape of a "string"that comes as either a closed shape or an open shape. When opened/closed they look like 1's and 0's. In other words, the makeup of the human world's particles indicates that the human world is a world of a binary number system, made up of 1's and 0's just like the digital world which means the digital world and human world can combine.
